Electoral Court Keeps the Heat on Meta Four Days Before Runoff
Brazil's Superior Electoral Court (TSE) gave Meta 24 hours on Sunday to prove it is treating the Lula and Flávio Bolsonaro campaigns equally across Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp, warning the daily fine would rise from R$500,000 to R$1 million. Meta replied that both campaigns get identical treatment and blamed a one-off, since-fixed Meta AI glitch; Justice Marco Aurélio Bellizze found a control failure but no evidence it was deliberate, and on Wednesday gave the Electoral Prosecutor 24 hours to weigh in. The runoff is Sunday, Oct. 25.

Runoff Is a Statistical Tie
Datafolha's own release (fieldwork Oct. 13–14, 2,520 interviews) puts Flávio Bolsonaro at 47% and Lula at 45%, down from 49%–45% a week earlier; in valid votes it is 51%–49%. Quaest (Oct. 10–13, 2,154 interviews, commissioned by Globo) has 46%–44%. Both polls carry a ±2-point margin, so the race is a technical tie heading into Sunday.

On his seventh trip to Spain as president, Javier Milei used a Nueva Economía Fórum breakfast to call Pedro Sánchez an “impresentable dictador” and urge voters to “kick out” the Socialists in Spain's Nov. 29 election. He did not meet Sánchez; the Royal Household confirmed Milei had informally asked to see King Felipe VI and was told any such meeting must be paired with one with the prime minister.
