Who we are

What we collect
- What you give us: your email address, and optionally your first name, when you subscribe.
- Referral data: if you sign up through a friend's link, the ID of the subscriber who referred you.
- Email engagement: whether an issue was delivered and opened, and which links you clicked. Links carry topic tags (for example "Markets & FX") so we can see which topics readers find useful, and over time put the topics you read most first. You still get every story.
- Website data: standard analytics and cookies set by our website platform when you visit thelatambrief.com.
How we use it
- To send you the Brief and service messages such as signup confirmation.
- To measure and improve the newsletter, including ordering stories by topics you read.
- To credit referrals.
- To comply with the law and prevent abuse.
We don't sell or rent your personal data. We don't share it with advertisers. If we ever include a sponsor, the sponsor gets no subscriber data.
Legal bases (EU/UK, Brazil and similar laws)
We send the newsletter on the basis of your consent, which you give when you subscribe and can withdraw at any time. We use engagement and analytics data on the basis of our legitimate interest in running and improving a free newsletter. While you're subscribed. If you unsubscribe, we keep your email on a suppression list so we don't email you again, and delete other data within a reasonable period, typically 12 months.
